 Confidence is high that the EyeGate® II Delivery System can be used for the ocular application of numerous drugs and for the treatment of a wide range of eye disorders. Our preclinical and clinical data from our European studies supports application of the technology in numerous indications including uveitis, choroidal neovascularization, cancer, glaucoma, among others. Our initial move to commercialization in both the U.S. and overseas will focus on the treatment of uveitis. We currently have CE mark on the delivery system in Europe and it is our plan to file an IND in the U.S. for uveitis in late 2007. Research is ongoing in the development of complementary colloidal encapsulation technologies to be used with the EyeGate® II Delivery System. Success here will first serve to expand our ability to deliver a wider range of drugs (non-ionic); and second, enable sustained release of a drug with a relatively short half-life. And in this case, allow for greater participation in some of the more sizable markets for chronic therapy such as dry eye and glaucoma, to name a few. |
